How do I add insurance? Declared value ≠ Insurance.

I am wondering at what point in the process I can add insurance.  I get the notification that the "Declared Value" does not mean insurance, but do not see where else I might add that info.  I need to ship a computer worth $1,700.  Thanks!

The terms Declared Value and Insurance are used interchangeably, however UPS, FedEx, & DHL refer to it as Declared Value because you must package your item properly and meet requirements in order to be successful in claiming damage up to the "Declared Value" amount.

There is a button in that warning box that you can click that will link you to this page:  http://cr.colostate.edu/DeclaredValue that you link out to each carrier's requirements for declaring the value of your shipment.  As the shipper of record, it is your responsibility to understand these requirements and to ensure that your shipment meets them prior to shipping.

Keep in mind, you will not necessarily receive the full amount you are declaring if your shipment is damaged.  A claims process is initiated if damage occurs and you will be responsible for providing proof of the item's value (you will receive diminished value, not replacement value), and the recipient will be required to keep the item and all packaging for inspection by the carrier in order to complete the claim process.

There is no other box for "Insurance" in Transtream as the term is not applicable any longer...you would enter that value in the Declared Value box instead.
