Shipping costs in "View Shipments"

I understand that the estimated cost of shipping, as we see it when submitting the order, may be different than the actual cost once you have measured/weighed the package yourself, since weights and measures go off of your/vendor's scales.  When viewing shipments that have already been processed, does the shipping cost in that receipt reflect the actual charge?  Or just the generic estimated charge?  I like to keep track of our true shipping expenses, so it would be helpful to know if the receipt reflects the actual charges.

The shipping cost that you see in the View Shipments app is the cost that will be charged to the Kuali Account # at the end of the business day that the package is processed on.  We consider this a "semi-final" number.  Because of the way carriers bill, there is no way to know what additional charges may be applied by the carrier after the package leaves us (overweight charge, address correction charge, hold charge, etc) and we have no way of automatically charging these fees.  If there are additional charges incurred to our carrier account by a shipment, our Department Accountant will enter a separate charge in Kuali for the difference and will reference the original tracking #.  Those charges may take up to 60 days to be reflected in Kuali.  The charges in Transtream will not be updated with any additional charges after the package leaves our facility.  We do utilize State of Colorado certified scales in our Shipping Department and our Mail Services Department.   Hope that helps clarify the process.
